The Pyramid Model provides a framework for supporting social and emotional competence and preventing challenging behaviours in young children. The model is well researched, with the major principles focusing on promotion, prevention and intervention. The four tiered framework complements and supports the National Quality Standard and Early Years Learning Framework,

This initial one day training course, provided by Sara Stockman, will provide an overview of the model and an introduction to key concepts and practical strategies. Engagement in meaningful learning experiences will ensure you finish the day with enough information to get started and an interest in learning more….

This course is designed for Early Childhood Educators and Early Intervention Professionals.

The course will cover:

  • The Pyramid Model - a framework, a leadership team, an implementation model
  • An overview of the Pyramid Model Observation Tool - for practical purposes
  • Self-reflective practice - how reviewing ourselves supports development in children
  • An overview of the Positive Behaviour Support planning process
  • Promoting Children's Success: Building Relationships and Creating Supportive Environments
  • Social Emotional Teaching Strategies

As well as understanding how The Pyramid Model works and practical strategies for implementation, participants will take home electronic versions of the supporting documents and resources such as checklists, planning forms and routine guides as provided by the Center for Social Emotional Foundation in Early Learning (CSEFEL) and the Technical Assistance Center for Social Emotional Intervention (TACSEI).

Feedback from some of Sara's previous Pyramid Model courses includes:

“Sara was a truly engaging presenter who took you through the whole Pyramid framework step by step so as you could leave the workshop with a sound understanding of where and how to implement a positive behaviour plan.”

“Fantastic training that can be used with all children attending the Centre. Easy to understand and implement within the centre with a whole-team approach.”

“Inspiring, informative”

“I don't believe the Pyramid Model o be a new concept when dealing with children's behaviours but the training was insightful with regard to educators de-constructing and re-framing their thinking when supporting children's behaviours within an early years learning environment.”

“After the training you feel that you have a practical set/ bag of tools that can be used in many situations for all children. The practical examples allow you to see the strategies in action in everyday situations, Also in the training, time was given to discuss specific examples from your particular work place which was very helpful.”

“The training is fantastic!! Definitely worthwhile doing for all early childhood services”.
